Repair Broken Items

How easy it is to make a list of repairs that need to be made around your home? Very easy! After you have made the list, you will need to act - make phone calls, persuade someone to help you, call your regular repairman, or use a home repair website such as Angi. A good handyman is worth his or her weight in gold!

Making a list gets your projects out of your head, onto paper, and moves you a step closer to completion. Sometimes something in your home is annoying but an easy fix. Don’t put things off. They multiply and take up brain space. I have found that when something is fixed, I am able to refocus my energy on the other things I need to do in my life or am able to take a little time to myself. When things are undone, they drive me nuts.

Taking action is the first step to getting things off your to-do list.

You can do this one of several ways. You can either tackle things by room, project, or contractor type. For example, I need to have my towel bars repaired, a picture and drapes hung, a crack in my baseboard fixed and my door is sticking. To me, this looks like a job for either one good handyman, or several different types of service contractors. I have a man who helps me hang pictures, and I know he can repair the towel bar and hang the drapes. He charges by the hour, and is good about squeezing me in. He arrives promptly and is fast to hang things once he gets to my house.

I also have an outstanding handyman. He is inexpensive, able to fix almost anything, but always booked, so I need to be patient with his schedule. I can also try someone who is on Angi’s list or call a friend for a referral. I am the kind of person who makes a list and likes to knock it down quickly. I also maneuver around people’s schedules and projects, trying to fit in a bunch of things as quickly as possible, and sometimes at odd times. I find that once I knock down one project, it keeps me moving forward until I’m finished with them all.

Complete your projects promptly.

So, make the list, get on the phone, the computer, or any other way you take care of things. Little completed projects make a world of difference in our lives. Then, if need be, you can tackle the tough ones.
